| I know I talk about this bastard way too much. I know I do.
But I feel like I should talk about him yet again. Just to prove that there are idiots out there in this world.
So, I'm willing to admit that I'm not the calmest of all people. I defend my fandoms wildly. I'm loud - even obnoxious at times. I will admit it. So it's no big surprise that I was angered by those Anti-Jackson groups on facebook. Not at all. It's my second nature to rant.
So rant I will. (I know most of you won't read this anyway.)
The thing about these groups is that they make it sound like they're some sort of a special clique because they know that Andrew Jackson was behind the Indian Removal Act. Well no duh, Captain Fucking Obvious. Thank you for your valuable insight. Every dipshit and his whore of a mother knows about Jackson and the Trail of Tears. Doesn't really take much to know that.
So you're not special, really.
The problem is that you take that one part of his presidency and define the man with it. That's just fucking great. Not only do you do this, but you just prove your lack of understanding on the area by making assumptions or spreading false information.
Jackson not being able to read? Utter bullshit. The man had a fucking library. His favorite book was about William Wallace. Shut up unless you know what utter nonsense you're spouting. Jackson not having political experience/being a political fuckwit? Again. Do your research first. Before presidency, Jackson was a circuit lawyer, a superior court judge, governor, and state representative. He had more than enough experience.
And as if being wrong wasn't good enough, you guys have to go and belittle everything else he did too, right? Universal Manhood Suffrage? Reinforcing executive power? Defining party politics? Jacksonian Democracy? PRESERVING THE MOTHERFUCKIN UNION? (Which is more than I can say about Buchanan. Inept bastard let the Civil War happen.) Yeah. You either conveniently forget all these or cast them in a bad light. Good for you. You keep saying that history books twist the truth, but you're doing it too.
I'm not trying to say that the Indian Removal was right. That's not it. I'm saying that you're judging a man based solely on one part of his political career. Not to mention that it seemed to be the prevalent attitude of the time. You can't forget Jackson's background. He grew up on the frontier where Indian threats were something very real. We can't hold him to our standards. Do you forget that Georgia was ready to throw in their militia and massacre the Indians on their land if the federal government did not move that? Do you forget that it was Jefferson who originally came up with the idea of Indian removal?
Yes, what he did was bad. I think we all get that. But it wasn't just him. You're villifying Jackson because it's easier to blame one person rather than the whole country.
And you know what? All these Bush comparisons are completely ridiculous and unfounded. Not to mention the attacks on his education. I'm sorry, what were you doing when you were thirteen? Oh, that's right. Going to school, being a kid. Well, not Jackson. He was fighting the British, serving as a message courier in the Continental Army. He was in a British POW camp with his brother. I'm pretty sure education kind of gets pushed behind when your mother and brother dies of cholera caught from the POW camp and you're left all alone in the world. You can't compare yourself to Jackson. The standards are different.
And now I've ranted for far too long. I should be working.
GODDAMN. Why am I so easily distracted?! |
| |
| Haven't been here in a while. Makes me miss the time when everyone had xanga.
Why isn't it summer yet?
|
| |
| Aha. Whatever happened to daily or even hourly xanga updates. guys? It's so empty here. Everyone's moved off to facebook. Phooey.
I am going to rant to no one in particular.
So, I've been watching Lucky Star lately. (I completely love Konata.) It's totally a guilty pleasure and makes me feel like a gigantic weeaboo but I keep telling myself that well, at least I'm Asian.
I've been procrastinating on homework. Nothing done.
Don't even want to start thinking about that essay.
Actually had a Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey and pumpkin pie and whatnot. Made me realize that I forgot to make a Thanksgiving card for Casanova. Something along the lines of THANKSGIVING IS A LIE. ENJOY THE BLOOD OF NATIVE AMERICANS ON YOUR HANDS, WHITE MAN.
What? I think it's funny.
This feels like I'm writing in an abandoned diary. And I just don't know what to write anymore.
Let's go hang out.

| It's kind of depressing how no one goes on xanga anymore.
I am old now. OOOOOLD.
|
| |
| Strangest thing.
I thought Jackson was a mean bastard and John Quincy Adams was great for his changes to America in 8th grade. Really. Jackson bad. Quincy Adams good.
See now, I hate John Quincy Adams and love Andrew Jackson.
Those bastards! How could they do that to Rachel? They killed her! MURDERERS. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK. HE LOVES HER. AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS YOU, DIRTY PIGS.
>:(
